Sports Medicine Physician services through the REACT Clinic are currently offered exclusively at our Calgary clinic. Clients from Edmonton and surrounding areas are welcome to book and attend in Calgary. Alternatively, ØRKA Edmonton's physiotherapy team can complete an initial assessment and, where appropriate, refer you into a local Edmonton sports medicine pathway.

The ØRKA REACT Clinic is a rapid-access Sports Medicine and Physiatry clinic built to triage, assess and manage acute injuries quickly. No referral is needed — athletes and active individuals can typically be seen within 4–7 days.
It's designed for anyone who has sustained a sports-related injury in the past six weeks, and it gets you to advanced clinical care while that window still matters.
Our physicians are certified by the Canadian Academy of Sport & Exercise Medicine (CASEM) and serve as team doctors for professional and national-level athletes. That same standard of care applies to every client in the ØRKA Sports Medicine ecosystem.
REACT isn't right for every injury, and sending you to the wrong door costs you time. Answer these and we'll point you at the pathway that actually fits.

These fall outside what the REACT Clinic can take on.
Submit the online request and our Athlete Experience Team will contact you to book your appointment — typically within 4–7 days. Bring your Alberta Health card and anything you already have on the injury: imaging, previous notes, or a brace you've been using.
Appointments are at our Calgary clinic: Unit 160, 11358 Barlow Trail NE.
Deformed fractures, unreduced dislocations, uncontrolled bleeding and acute neck or back trauma are outside what a clinic appointment can safely manage. Head to your nearest Urgent Care or Emergency Department now.
Once you've been seen and stabilised, come back — REACT can pick up the rehabilitation and follow-up side of your recovery.

Past six weeks, REACT isn't the right entry point, but our Sports Medicine and Physiatry referral pathway is. Ask your physician, physiotherapist or chiropractor to complete the referral form. Once we have the details, our Athlete Experience Team will contact you to arrange the appointment.

The REACT Clinic can't accept WCB or MVC claims, injuries with an active medicolegal claim, clients already assessed by a physiatrist for the same injury, or children under five. That's a scope limit, not a judgement about your injury.

Your physician takes the full story of the injury — mechanism, timeline, what's changed since, and what you're trying to get back to.
A hands-on examination of the injured area and everything that loads it, to establish a working diagnosis.
X-ray, MSK ultrasound, MRI, CT, bone scan or bloodwork — ordered on the spot and covered by Alberta Health.
A management plan, any prescriptions or bracing, referral onward where appropriate, and a report sent to your referring provider.

Acute, sports-related injury within the last six weeks. Triage, diagnosis and an immediate management plan.
Injuries and conditions past the acute window, including chronic and recurring problems that need a physician's assessment.
Physical medicine and rehabilitation for complex or persistent musculoskeletal presentations needing specialist input.
Sports Medicine and Physiatry (PM&R) consultations are covered by Alberta Health Services, as is any imaging or lab work your physician orders — x-ray, MSK ultrasound, MRI, CT, bone scan and bloodwork. There is no direct cost to you for this part of your ØRKA medical or rehabilitation pathway.
As part of your plan, your physician may prescribe medication, bracing or other health products. Some of these aren't covered by Alberta Health and are fee-for-service, but are often covered by extended health benefit plans such as Blue Cross, Sun Life, Manulife or Green Shield.
The acute window is where the best decisions get made. Apply online and we'll get you in front of a Sports Medicine Physician, usually within a week.
