At ØRKA Performance, we use VALD technology to support your physiotherapy care. This system allows us to measure strength, movement, balance, and performance in an objective way, so we can better assess injuries, track your progress, and tailor your treatment.
Researchers: ØRKA Performance
Purpose of Data Collection
At ØRKA Performance, the collection of individual performance and health data is central to our mission of elevating the quality, precision, and personalization of the care we provide.
Through the use of advanced measurement tools, including VALD technology, we gather objective metrics related to strength, movement, rate of force development balance, explosiveness, reactive strength and speed. These measures allow our clinical and performance teams to gain a deeper understanding of each individual’s current function, capacity, and areas of opportunity.
We use these insights as the foundation for rehabilitation planning, return-to-sport decision-making, and performance optimization. Our guiding principle is to create data-driven strategies tailored to the unique goals of every client—whether that’s restoring movement after injury or unlocking higher levels of athletic performance.
Beyond individual care, the structured collection and analysis of this data also support ØRKA Performance’s broader goal of advancing evidence-based practice within rehabilitation and sport science. By evaluating anonymized, aggregated data, our team can refine our assessment models, improve outcome tracking, and contribute to the growing body of knowledge that informs best practices in human performance and recovery.
Data Usage
The information collected through our systems may include, but is not limited to:
Baseline and follow-up testing data
Ongoing performance monitoring or re-testing
In-season or phase-based assessments
Exit or discharge testing results
output based on participation within rehabilitation or performance ecosystem (e.g. session by session or sports rehab program model)
This data helps us evaluate progress, identify trends, injury risk, and ensure that every treatment and training program is grounded in objective evidence.
What information is collected
When you complete a VALD assessment, the system records:
Strength, movement, balance, and range of motion results
Device and session details (e.g., date, test type, and results linked to you)
For certain surgical cases (such as ACL reconstruction), we may collect and track additional clinical details including the referring surgeon, graft selection, side of injury (laterality), and the dates specific rehabilitation milestones are achieved (e.g., walking independently, running, returning to change of direction, return to technical training, and full return to sport). The purpose of collecting this information is to improve the precision and safety of our rehabilitation process. Much of the published research surrounding surgical benchmarks is derived from professional or elite male athletic populations, which may not reflect the demographics of the clients we serve. By analyzing anonymized data across different age groups, competition levels, and sexes, we can better understand realistic recovery timelines and performance benchmarks for populations such as 16–18-year-old female athletes or 20–25-year-old collegiate competitors. This allows our team to make more informed, evidence-based return-to-sport decisions and to promote consistent, safe outcomes across our rehabilitation programs.
